Trent Boult to Wriddhiman Saha, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Trent Boult strikes with his second ball and Saha, the Powerplay enforcer for Gujarat is gone for a duck! Back of a length again, around off and it is angled across the batter. Saha looks to work it towards the leg side. However, the angle of the ball takes the outside edge of his blade and it goes towards Samson behind the stumps. He takes an easy catch and Trent Boult draws first blood.
We're back! The Rajasthan players have gathered near the boundary line. They have the momentum at the moment and will aim to take it into their bowling innings. The huddle is over and now they are spreading on the field. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha are the openers for Gujarat. Here is Trent Boult steaming in...
Trent Boult to Wriddhiman Saha, Boult starts with a back-of-a-length delivery, around off. Saha rides the bounce and punches it towards cover-point.
Right then, it's a commanding total on the board and Gujarat will have to bat really well on this tricky surface. Someone from their top three will have to play a Jos Buttler kind of a knock. The ticket to the finale is on the line and let's hope for a humdinger of a second segment. Stay tuned...
... CHASE TIME ...
Devdutt Padikkal (28 off 20 balls) says that they have got a really good score on the board and adds that the pitch does not matter in this kind of match. He is aware that Gujarat will come hard at them. Tells that they were trying to take the game deep and there were no such plans to attack from just one end. Shares that Jos knew that he can take the game deep. Mentions that the pitch is a bit two-paced and the performance of the Rajasthan spinners will be the key. Tells that he has not touched the ground and has no idea about the dew.
Feel we've got a really good score. At the same time, the wicket doesn't matter in a game like this. They're going to come hard. We were looking to push the game deep because it wasn't easy to bat on. Wanted to make sure we picked our bowlers. Jos always knew he could make up at any point. Regardless of what situation it was, I was going to take on the left-arm spinner anyway. It's a little bit dry, not bouncing that much. It's a bit two-paced that way. Having our spinners who have been doing well will be key. Don't know (about the dew).
Earlier, after the early fall of a wicket, Sanju Samson walked in with intent and started to treat everyone with some dazzling shots. Sanju Samson's sublime knock concealed the struggle of Buttler, although the Englishman had started his innings with a few glorious drives. When Sanju was at the crease, runs were flowing and it was raining boundaries. His departure though sucked all the momentum from Rajasthan's innings. Buttler didn't get going in the middle overs, and Devdutt Padikkal also fell after a promising start. Credit to Rashid Khan for his economical four overs that helped Gujarat in gaining the upper hand but the same kind of control from the other end was absent.
What a turnaround in the end overs from Jos Buttler! He struggled for most parts of his knock but got his touch back when it mattered the most. Interestingly, Jos was 43 off 39 balls when Hardik Pandya slipped while attempting the catch to dismiss Buttler, and the Englishman went on to score 46 runs off the next 17 balls he faced. There were plenty of mistimed shots and edges and a dropped catch as well but it was Jos Buttler's evening and his knock has propelled Rajasthan to a very competitive score.
Yash Dayal to Ravichandran Ashwin, So a couple to end the innings! A length ball, on off. Ashwin goes back and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket and comes back for the second run. Rajasthan finish with 188/6 after 20 overs!
Trent Boult is in next.
Yash Dayal to Ravichandran Ashwin, OUT! Another run out! Yash Dayal delivers it full but way wide outside off, Ravichandran Ashwin leaves it alone. Riyan Parag comes steaming in to steal a bye but Ashwin is not going anywhere. Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha throws the ball to the bowler, who does the rest. Parag is unhappy as he returns. It's called a wide. What a dramatic finish to this innings!
Yash Dayal to Jos Buttler, OUT! NO BALL and RUN OUT! Buttler departs off a no ball but the siren came late and in a bid to take two runs off the final ball, Buttler departs! Full delivery on off. Buttler hits it to long on and the batters charge for the second run. Alzarri Joseph fires a throw at the batter's end and Buttler dives to make his ground. However. he is short as Saha whips the bails off.
Free Hit coming and the new batter, Ravichandran Ashwin will take it...
Yash Dayal to Jos Buttler, A very full delivery on off. Buttler hits it hard towards long off and the batters run two. The throw from the deep was a weak one unless Jos would have been in trouble.
