Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Kangana starrer braces for clash with Imtiaz Ali's 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' and Manoj Bajpayee's 'Governor' in cinemas

'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' is a powerful drama inspired by one of the lesser-known yet extraordinary stories of courage from the horrific 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film shines a light on the brave nurses and hospital staff of Mumbai's Cama Hospital, who risked their own lives to protect and care for nearly 400 patients as terrorists unleashed chaos across the city. Based on true events, the film celebrates the resilience, humanity and selfless service of medical workers who became unlikely heroes on one of India's darkest nights.

Leading the cast is Kangana Ranaut, who plays a courageous nurse caught in the midst of the crisis. She is joined by acclaimed actors Girija Oak and Smita Tambe in pivotal roles. Through a gripping narrative of survival, sacrifice and hope, 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' pays tribute to the unsung heroes who stood firm in the face of unimaginable danger and ensured that hundreds of vulnerable patients remained safe. The film has been inspired by real-life acts of bravery displayed by Cama Hospital staff during the attacks.

Releasing in cinemas today, 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' enters a competitive box-office battle, clashing with Imtiaz Ali's 'Main Vaapas Aaunga', starring Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Naseeruddin Shah, as well as Manoj Bajpayee's 'Governor'.

Kangana Ranaut: 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' a salutation to invisible souls who stand as the ultimate shield of humanity and harmony.'

Shedding light on her next, Kangana said, "Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is a salutation to those invisible souls who, when pushed into crisis, rise to stand as the ultimate shield of humanity and harmony. When disaster strikes, our collective instinct is to look toward armed uniforms or state authorities for salvation. But this film tributes the uniforms nobody notices until the world is burning—the blood-stained aprons, the sterile hospital scrubs, the frayed civilian clothes. True courage does not wait for a badge, permission, or the promise of a medal."

Talking about the motion poster, the 'Queen' actress went on to add, "Every single frame of this motion poster compels us to look into the eyes of people who surrendered everything they had without ever demanding an audience. I feel a profound honour in being part of a film that carries their truth to the world."

Kangana Ranaut on playing a nurse in 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata'

Ranaut said playing the role of a nurse in her new film, written and directed by Manoj Tapadia, was fun yet challenging.

“If you take a little liberty with that character, it will get disconnected. So, you can't take any liberty with this character. So, keeping that in mind, within that you have to be (the character) and it has its own fun. It has its own challenge. When a character is challenging, it has its own fun.”

Kangana Ranaut reveals she didn’t get movies after ‘Fashion’
The success of "Fashion" did not translate into movies, says actor Kangana Ranaut, recalling a period of struggle where she worked bellow her intelligence to sustain herself in the industry. "Whenever you struggle, you should take that time constructively because life is saying something to you and you have to listen to it. When I didn't have a job, when I struggled, at that time, I asked myself a lot of questions, like, ‘Why am I not getting a job? Why am I not able to do anything better? This phase was after 2007-2008 when even after ‘Fashion’, I didn't get a job,” the actor told PTI in an interview.

Ranaut said she was told to hire a manager who worked for top stars and she did exactly that, but it led her to commercial films like “Rascals” and “Dhamaal”.

"I knew that I was working below my intelligence. But at that time, I didn't have that luxury, as people often say today: ‘You should do what you love’. It is such a stupid statement. You should do what is needed... You should do what you can do, you can't do what you can't do.”

Kangana Ranaut: 'The message of 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' resonated with me a lot'

After her last big screen outing as former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Ranaut is returning to playing an ordinary woman in her new film, which will see her as a hospital nurse.

The 40-year-old said she was thrilled to bring to life the bravery of the nurses and ward boys, who became the nation’s quiet saviours during the 26/11 dastardly attacks in 2008, through her film, “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata”.

“The message of the film has resonated with me a lot. Especially because we always feel that some divine saviour (will come to save us). But when we look at the character sketch (of this film), it is very evident that the people, who do their job very well and take their work seriously and don't take themselves seriously, they are the people, who are living in reality. These people are the most spiritual, closest to God, the happiest, and most patriotic.”

Kangana Ranaut calls for cinema to evolve with society: Films need to keep changing

Kangana Ranaut has emphasized the need for cinema to continuously evolve with a rapidly changing society.

When asked about whether high fees charged by lead actors lead to losses for films, the ‘Queen’ actress told IANS that when a film does not do well at the box office, all costs are naturally questioned. She compared it to a household cutting back on spending when income goes down. Kangana also added that the film industry should change and adapt according to shifting audience expectations and market conditions. “When a film doesn't do well, the value will be very high. The way you used to spend money—if you don't have that much income, how much will you spend? So having said that, I think films need to evolve. And the way society is evolving, they need to keep evolving themselves.”

Kangana’s co-star from ‘Bharat Bhhagya Vidhaata,' Smita Tambe, added, “I always feel that every person looks for some relevance. In any story, anywhere. We have relevance. Somewhere we are visible. Somewhere we see larger-than-life visuals.”

“I feel that with this exchange of relevance, the stories of cinema and the common audience, the more it evolves, the more it will become an attraction point for them. For example, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata. We see that every common woman, our mothers, nurses, or any other working-class person, will be able to relate to it. So, I feel that the more this relation evolves, the more the audience will come to us,” she further explained.

Kangana Ranaut urges women to be independent: 'Build a life that you want, don't listen to anyone'

Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has advised all parents not to simply abandon their daughters once they are married. Taking to the Stories section of her official Instagram handle, the 'Queen' actress shared a post that read, “So many tragic news about married young women comes up every day. Many of these young, educated ladies even beg their parents to help them out of their suffocating situations before tragedies strike them, but Indian society is notorious for abandoning daughters once they are married (sic).”

She further urged all the young women to focus on their careers and become independent before thinking about getting married. She added, “My advice to young women out there which no social media or fashion/dating/wedding/make up industry is telling you. Your career is more important than anyone else in your life. Think about marriage only after you are independent. Please you have to be your own hero. No one is coming to save you. What you do and what you are is more important than who you marry. Build a life that you want don't listen to anyone.”

Kangana Ranaut thanks John Abraham for giving up title ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’
Actor Kangana Ranaut has said that she sought John Abraham's permission to use the title “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata” for her new film and he handed it over without charging anything. “When this film came to me, it was titled ‘Nurses of Cama’. But when we heard it I felt that the film reflects the spirit of India and the title should be ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’. We got to know that this title has already been registered by John sir, so I called him up in this regard," Kangana told reporters at the trailer launch event.

"I was told that people don’t give away the title (of a film) so easily that they’ve registered, but in a single day, he gave us the title without charging anything,” the actor-politician added.

Abraham and Ranaut have starred together in 2013 crime-action movie, “Shootout at Wadala”.

Kangana Ranaut on 'Bharat Bhhagya Vidhaata': Don't underestimate the power of ordinary people
Ahead of the theatrical release of Kangana Ranaut-led "Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata" on June 12, the makers unveiled the gripping trailer of the drama. Shedding light on her next, Kangana said, “So many of us make the mistake of underestimating the power of ordinary people capable of extraordinary courage. The trailer touches upon a truth that while medical training can be taught, bravery cannot. The will to stand your ground in the face of fear, the instinct to serve humanity, and the grit to honour the oath nurses take… all of that comes from within. It comes from a belief that what you do matters, even if no one is watching, even if no one applauds."

"These nurses and ward boys did not see themselves as heroes; they simply believed that their duty was bigger than their fear. That belief saved lives. And that's the essence of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata," the 'Queen' actress added.
