“Listen, he[Patrick Mahomes]’s done a great job as a professional and then off the field as a father and husband, and so you got the whole package there,” Andy Reid said at a recent press conference.
“You guys have had a chance to watch him grow over the years in both those areas, and so he’s a great representative of the organization and a heck of a football player.”
Patrick Mahomes signs $504 million contract extension with Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, did something historical for the franchise, so they probably did the same for him.
He brought them their second Lombardi Trophy after 50 long years! Two more followed after that one.
And how do they reportedly repay him? By signing him to a massive contract extension that leaves a mark in the NFL history books.
Mahomes becomes the first player in NFL history to have a total contract value over half a billion dollars.
After signing the deal, he let out a sigh of relief!
According to Spotrac, the Texas Tech alum has signed an 8-year, $504 million contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs in June 2026.
The deal includes an average annual income of $63 million.
In 2026, the 30-year-old signal caller is scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.3M, a $54M restructure bonus, and a $1M workout bonus while carrying a $34M cap hit.
The contract extension keeps him locked till the 2033 season. He will be 38 by then! Just as much as
Matthew Stafford is right now with the Los Angeles Rams.
Patrick Mahomes’ mom Randi drops heartfelt message after historic achievement
Randi Mahomes dropped
several snapshots of her star son on
Instagram.
She captioned it:
“These years in the NFL have flown by, but watching you step into your purpose and chase your dreams has never stopped feeling special.
Looking back through these photos just reminds me how far you’ve come and how much heart you’ve put into every single season.
I am so proud of the man you are, on and off the field.
Here’s to your 10th year! To years of dedication, resilience, doing what you love, and to many more chapters ahead! I love you!”
Following the Chiefs’ massive deal for their QB, a similar move could happen for
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell predicts $260M extension for Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
ESPN’s Bill Barwell suggests a four-year, $260 million deal averaging $65 million per year would make Lamar Jackson the highest-paid player in NFL history, “while still leaving the veteran with the potential to get one more crack at another contract in his mid-30s.”
The Baltimore Ravens may have to guarantee the $52 million Jackson is owed in 2027 and over $100 million of the new money on the deal, with practical guarantees running into 2030 or 2031.
“And if Jackson does want to try to hold his ground for a fully guaranteed contract the second time around, well, he could point to what happened after the last negotiation as proof that he deserves that sort of deal,” Barnwell wrote.
Jackson’s AAV of $65 million would exceed Mahomes’ AAV of $63 million.
Mahomes [2017 NFL Draft] is just a year ahead of Jackson [2018 NFL Draft], yet he has three Super Bowl rings to his name, whereas Jackson has none.
