Palladam Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district falls under the Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat. As per the 2011 Census, the constituency has a population of 4.37 lakh, with 54.75per cent urban and 45.25per cent rural residents. Scheduled Castes account for 17.2per cent and Scheduled Tribes 0.14per cent of the population.
Electorally, Palladam has demonstrated a clear AIADMK advantage in Assembly elections over the past decade, with decisive victories in 2011, 2016 and 2021. However, Parliamentary elections have reflected shifting alliance dynamics and a comparatively stronger performance by the DMK and its allies in recent cycles, particularly in 2024.
In the 2021 Assembly election, AIADMK’s M.S.M. Anandan secured 1,26,903 votes, defeating DMK’s K. Muthurathinam by a margin of 32,691 votes (12.58per cent).
