Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency, located in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, forms part of the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency has a mixed demographic profile, with about 78.07 per cent of its population classified as urban and 21.93 per cent rural according to the 2011 Census. Scheduled Castes constitute around 16.36 per cent of the population, while Scheduled Tribes account for about 0.63 per cent.
Kinathukadavu witnessed a closely fought contest in the last Tamil Nadu Assembly elections of 2021. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s S Damodaran won the seat with 1,01,537 votes, narrowly defeating the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s Kuruchi Prabhakaran, who secured 1,00,442 votes. In terms of vote share, the AIADMK secured 43.69 per cent, while the DMK closely followed with 43.22 per cent.
Historically, Kinathukadavu has largely witnessed electoral contests between the AIADMK and the DMK, with both parties alternating in terms of vote share dominance across elections. The narrow margins seen in recent elections highlight the constituency’s competitive nature.
The constituency is currently represented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by S Damodaran of the AIADMK, while the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency is represented by K. Eswarasamy of the DMK.
