Loco pilot injured as inidentified object hits moving train in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) of Vijayawada division of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) launched an investigation in connection with an incident involving an assistant loco pilot (ALP) of train no. 12616, Grand Trunk Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Chennai, sustained minor injuries while on duty on June 3, after an unidentified object hit him.As per the preliminary statement of the injured ALP, a food packet with some hard object is suspected to have struck the locomotive while train no. 22816 was crossing on the adjacent down line. Subsequently, the RPF Ongole Post police registered a case.According to railway authorities, the RPF and GRP police, based on the ALP statement, carried out extensive searches during the night along the railway track and adjoining areas near the incident location, situated between level crossing gate no. 185 and 186 as well as train no. 22816. No suspicious persons were found during the search operation.The authorities said the injured ALP was immediately provided first aid at the Ongole GGH, and subsequently shifted to the Vijayawada divisional railway hospital, where he is put under medical supervision. The medical examination confirmed that his condition is stable. Doctors have recommended minor suturing for an injury to the hand, while all other health parameters are reported to be normal.
