Sleeves to shoe soles: Creative cheating tricks land six LU students in trouble
Lucknow: Six students were caught using bizarre and creative cheating techniques during Lucknow University's end-semester exams held recently. From answers written under sleeves to chits stitched inside shirts, a string of chits tucked in socks and even pasted under shoe soles, students left no place unexplored, while invigilators played detectives.“A BCA student was caught cheating in the data analytics exam where he wrote the answers on his sleeves, but due to sweat, his whole hand turned blue from the ink on his sleeves,” said a member of the flying squad. An LLB three-year girl student, appearing for her land law exam, tried a do-it-yourself approach by stapling a string of notes inside her socks, but was caught when the invigilator spotted her pulling what looked like a magician’s endless thread.“Another LLB student in her commercial law paper stapled chits inside her shirt, only to be caught with one in hand and others dangling like loose ends.An LLB student in his BNS examination relied on palm notes, proving that some classics never go out of style, though they rarely go unnoticed, and he was caught.Meanwhile, a BTech electrical engineering student in advanced mechanics kept it simple with chits in his pockets, but simplicity did not guarantee success, and he too was caught cheating,” said another member of the flying squad.
A BPharm student in his pharmaceutical inorganic chemistry exam trusted his footwear, placing sticky notes under his shoe soles, but was caught red-handed, or rather foot-handed, while attempting a careful extraction.LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said, “The examination paper in which students were caught copying has been cancelled. They will now have to appear for the back paper.”Cheating now cancels single paper, not full yearAdopting a ‘reformist’ approach, Lucknow University has decided that now only the paper in which students are caught cheating will be cancelled and not the entire examination. Such students will have to appear for back paper. Earlier, students caught using unfair means used to lose the entire year.
