Woman woos pharmacy student into honey trap, aides assault, rob him of Rs10,000
Police are searching for the accused
Pune: A woman allegedly wooed a 22-year-old final-year pharmacy student from Daund into a honey trap after befriending him over the phone, and her six accomplices allegedly assaulted and robbed him when he met her the next day, on May 27.The accused allegedly extorted Rs 10,000 from him and threatened to implicate him in a molestation case unless he paid Rs1 lakh. The student suffered severe injuries on head, face, chest and back. He approached the Daund police on Sunday after treatment at a hospital.The police have registered a case against the woman and her six accomplices under sections 115, 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 119 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to extort property), 308 (extortion), and 189, 190 and 191 (rioting) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “We are searching for the accused,” an officer from the Pune Rural police said.He said the victim from Ahilyanagar district was a student of a private college. He has been staying with a relative in Daund.The police said the student was sitting outside his place of stay in Daund on May 26. A woman surfaced in the area and stood some distance away from him.“She first smiled at him. A few minutes later, she indicated that he should follow her,” the officer said.
The student followed her from a distance, handed her a chit with his cellphone number written on it and returned home. “Later that night, the woman called him,” the officer said.The woman called him again on May 27 and told him to meet her near his house. After he reached the spot, the woman led him to a secluded area, where six of her accomplices arrived on two motorcycles. “The woman took away his cellphone, while one of her accomplices snatched Rs 10,000,” the officer said.When the student raised an alarm, the accused allegedly forced him onto a motorcycle, took him to another location and assaulted him. A police team found him unconscious and took him to a hospital.
