WPL 2026: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is set to run from January 9 to February 5, ushering in the fourth season of the tournament since its inception in 2023. Continuing with the caravan model, the competition will begin in Navi Mumbai before shifting to Vadodara, which will host the business end of the season, including the final. The format aims to expand the league’s footprint while maintaining competitive balance across venues.
Mumbai Indians enter the new season as defending champions and remain the most successful franchise in WPL history so far. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the only other team to have lifted the trophy, while Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz will be eager to break their title drought and stake a claim for supremacy in the growing league.
WPL 2026 will once again feature five teams — Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz — competing in a double round-robin format. Each side will play eight league matches, with two points awarded for a win. The team finishing at the top of the standings will qualify directly for the final, while the teams placed second and third will battle it out in the Eliminator. The fourth and fifth-placed teams will be eliminated at the end of the league stage.
The BCCI has released the full schedule for the season, confirming that the opening match will see defending champions Mumbai Indians take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The first 11 matches of the tournament will be held in Navi Mumbai, after which the action will move to Vadodara for the remaining fixtures, including the playoffs. League matches conclude on February 1, followed by the Eliminator on February 3 and the final on February 5.
