The fielder, Khawaja Nafay, with one stump to aim at, swoops to his right from cover and throws it to the batting end, but misses his shy. Charith Asalanka is forced to put in a desperate dive to get in. Direct hit would have had Asalanka in serious trouble there.

Naseem Shah to Pathum Nissanka, OUT! CAUGHT! Absolutely outsmarted the batter and Pakistan have their first breakthrough. Naseem cunningly goes pace off and throws it wide outside off, away from the batter's arc as Pathum moves away early. Pathum Nissanka backs a bit to carve it through the off side, but is way too early in his shot and ends up tamely chipping it toward the cover fielder. Mohammad Nawaz backtracks a bit and takes a fine-judged catch at the edge of the ring with a reverse cup. Showed all his cards early, did Nissanka and paid the price. Sri Lanka are 8/1.

Naseem Shah to Pathum Nissanka, Straight up in the air, but lands safely! On a fullish length, nips away a shy bit on off. Pathum Nissanka walks forward to negate any movement, and lofts it over mid-wicket. There is no timing at all on the shot, but he manages to clear the in-field and the ball lands in the vast open space in the deep mid-wicket region for a couple of runs.
