Australia vs Pakistan Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: Winless Pakistan crumble for 114 all out, Australia win by 107 runs

Australia vs Pakistan Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: In a stunning turnaround at the ICC Women’s World Cup in Colombo, Australia overpowered Pakistan by 107 runs in the ninth match of the tournament. The defending champions, sent in to bat, faced an early crisis as Pakistan’s spinners, led by Nashra Sandhu (3/37) and Rameen Shamim (2/29), ripped through the top order. Australia were struggling at 115/8, appearing vulnerable on a turning pitch.

Beth Mooney emerged as the savior for Australia, crafting a brilliant 109 from 114 balls, her maiden century in a Women’s World Cup. The left-hander displayed controlled aggression, striking 11 boundaries and keeping her side afloat. Alana King (51*), coming in at number 10, complemented Mooney brilliantly, hitting three fours and three sixes. Together, they stitched a record 109-run stand for the ninth wicket—the highest-ever for that position in Women’s ODI history—propelling Australia to 221/9.

Pakistan’s chase faltered immediately against Australia’s pace battery. Kim Garth (3/14) removed Sadaf Shamas early, while Megan Schutt (2/25) and Annabel Sutherland (2/15) added to the carnage. Despite a gritty 35 from Sidra Amin, the batting collapse was too severe, with Pakistan losing five wickets for just 31 runs by the ninth over. The innings petered out at 114 in 36.3 overs.

Earlier, Pakistan had shown promise with wickets from Nashra Sandhu, Rameen Shamim, and captain Fatima Sana, putting Australia under pressure. However, Mooney and King’s record partnership turned the game decisively.

Mooney was rightly adjudged Player of the Match for her match-winning century, while King’s power-hitting highlighted Australia’s lower-order depth. The win gave Australia five points from three games, moving them to the top of the points table, while Pakistan remained at the bottom after three successive losses. The result reinforced Australia’s dominance and showcased their ability to recover from precarious positions, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Brief Scores: Australia Women 221/9 (Beth Mooney 109, Alana King 51*; Nashra Sandhu 3/37) defeated Pakistan Women 114 (Sidra Amin 35, Rameen Shamim 15; Kim Garth 3/14).

TOSS - Pakistan Women have won the toss and will BOWL first.

Australia vs Pakistan Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: Australia bounced back from a top-order collapse to thrash Pakistan by 107 runs in the ICC Women’s World Cup at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday. Sent in to bat, the defending champions struggled early, reduced to 115/8 in the 37th over, with Pakistan bowlers, led by Nashra Sandhu (3/37) and Rameen Shamim (2/29), making early inroads.

Beth Mooney played a match-defining innings, scoring 109 off 114 balls, her first century in a Women’s World Cup, and was ably supported by lower-order batter Alana King (51*). The duo stitched a record 109-run stand for the ninth wicket, rescuing Australia to a total of 221/9.

In response, Pakistan’s chase never gained momentum. The visitors lost early wickets to Australia’s pacers Kim Garth (3/14), Megan Schutt (2/25), and Annabel Sutherland (2/15), slumping to 31/5 in the ninth over. Only Sidra Amin (35) offered resistance, but the rest of the batting unit failed to capitalize. Pakistan was bowled out for 114 in 36.3 overs, handing Australia their second win of the tournament.

Mooney’s brilliance with the bat earned her the Player of the Match award, while King’s cameo further highlighted Australia’s depth. The victory also propelled the defending champions to the top of the points table with five points from three matches, while Pakistan remained at the bottom, having lost all three games so far.
