Uttarakhand’s Rs 2 lakh housing aid scheme for soldiers’ families: Eligibility, benefits and more explained

The Uttarakhand government rolled out a financial assistance scheme aimed at providing housing relief to the families of soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as war-disabled veterans trying to rebuild their lives.The “Housing Assistance Grant” scheme is being implemented by the State Sainik Board under the Sainik Welfare Department. It provides financial support to widows and dependents of soldiers martyred in wars and border clashes, along with war-disabled retired soldiers, for construction or repair of a house.Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are given a one-time grant of Rs 2 lakh during their lifetime, strictly for house construction or renovation. The support is designed to strengthen long-term housing security for military families and ex-servicemen.The benefit can be availed only once in a lifetime, and applicants must be residents of Uttarakhand.
