According to TTD authorities, the temple prepared and sold 1.21 crore laddus in the month of May, with over 25 lakh devotees having visited the hill temple last month.
Tirupati: The sacred abode of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala registered record sales of the sacred laddu prasadams as pilgrim rush peaked in the month of May.According to TTD authorities, the temple prepared and sold 1.21 crore laddus in the month of May, with over 25 lakh devotees having visited the hill temple last month. The sale of laddus in May 2024 was 1.01 crore, while the number was 1.10 crore in May 2025.Among a series of measures initiated by TTD additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary and his team in terms of coping with the surge in pilgrim influx at Tirumala was to maintain a buffer stock of the laddu prasadam. While the average production and sale of laddus is usually around 3.5 lakh a day, TTD produced and sold over 4 lakh laddus daily in the month of May.According to Chowdary, around 68 tons of raw materials including 32 tons of sugar, 16 tons of gram flour, 16 tons of pure cow ghee, 3.5 tons of cashews, 2 tons of raisins, 400 kgs of cardamom, and 800 kgs of sugar candy were used in the preparation of over 4 lakh laddus and other sacred annaprasadams at the hill temple.The traditional 'Dittam' standards in the preparation of the sacred laddu is being followed in a strict manner by TTD.
'Dittam' refers to the prescribed list of ingredients and their exact proportions to be used in the preparation of sacred prasadams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The standards were approved by TTD way back in 1950-51.With the introduction of several quality check parameters in sync with FSSAI guidelines, the sacred Tirumala laddu symbolises the perfect blend of quality, tradition and devotion and continues to showcase the spiritual grandeur of Tirumala.
