Vijayawada: Three govt hospitals in East Godavari district will be upgraded at a cost of ₹6.56 crore ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027. Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav approved the proposals on Wednesday to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and emergency services during the 12-day event.
Funds will be used to upgrade Kovvuru area hospital and the CHCs at Nidadavole and Mandapeta, following a request from the district collector citing the need for enhanced medical facilities. Of the total allocation, ₹3.75 crore has been earmarked for Mandapeta CHC, which will be upgraded from a 30-bed to a 100-bed facility, including completion of an additional floor and allied infrastructure.
Nidadavole CHC will get ₹1 crore for outpatient rooms, toilets, compound wall, internal roads, equipment and strengthening of water and power systems. Works worth ₹88 lakh have been sanctioned for Kovvuru area hospital, including repairs, drainage improvement, electrical upgrades and installation of a transformer and generator.
Officials said the upgrades will enhance hospital capacity to manage emergencies during Pushkaralu.
Godavari Pushkaralu will be held from June 26 to July 7, 2027, and is expected to draw millions of devotees.
