Chennai boy tops Sastra engineering rank list

Trichy: Chennai based R Abhinav has secured the first rank in the engineering admissions rank list of Sastra Deemed University, Thanjavur, for the academic year 2026-27 in both stream I and II categories. Abhinav with a class XII score of 97.8% and JEE main score of 99.6909, has come first, he completed schooling at Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial School, Chennai.Over 37,000 students from all over India registered for the engineering admissions and all the applications received up to 5pm on Friday (June 5) were processed and the rank list released at 9 pm. 50% of the seats under stream I is based on class XII aggregate and JEE main scores while for the remaining 50% seats for stream II is based on Class XII aggregate scores.Sastra has provided 20% of seats for students from Trichy and Thanjavur districts, besides special provisions for students from Northeastern states, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep islands. In addition, the university is providing special scholarships for students of martyred or serving personnel of the Indian armed forces.“All counselling and admission related updates are available at www.sastra.edu with classes for the 2026 batch beginning on August 3, 2026,” said Vice-Chancellor Dr S Vaidhyasubramaniam, Sastra Deemed University.
