Lucknow: City witnessed a sharp rise in commercial LPG prices on Monday, with oil marketing companies increasing the rate of a 19-kg cylinder by Rs 42, effective June 1. The revision impacts hotels, restaurants and other businesses that rely on commercial cylinders, while domestic cooking gas prices remained unchanged.As per the updated rates, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Lucknow now costs Rs 3,236. The 19-kg Xtra Tej cylinder was raised by Rs 42.50. Smaller and specialised variants also became costlier: the 5-kg FTL POS cylinder price increased by Rs 10, and the NANO Cut cylinder was hiked by Rs 37.50.Bulk users faced steeper increases. The 47.5-kg LOT/SC/Xtra Tej LOT cylinder went up by Rs 105.50, and the 425-kg Jumbo cylinder saw a significant hike of Rs 943.50, adding to operating costs for large kitchens and industrial consumers.The increase comes as the Centre focuses on strengthening India’s fuel security after supply disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia underscored the country’s dependence on imported energy.Similar upward revisions were reported in other metros. In Delhi, the 19-kg commercial cylinder rose by Rs 42 to Rs 3,113.50, while Kolkata recorded a higher hike of Rs 53.50 to Rs 3,255.50.
