85-year-old man kills son after he beats his mother
Times News NetworkKanpur: An 85-year-old man allegedly killed his 36-year-old son by hitting him with a stick and a stone after the son, in a drunken state, beat his 80-year-old mother in Anandpura Badera village under the Ajnar police station area on Thursday evening, police said. The accused, identified as Nanhe Bhai, was taken into custody and questioned.The incident, which caused a sensation in the village, occurred when the deceased, Bhagwat, returned home heavily drunk and allegedly assaulted his mother, Rambhi, after she asked him not to drink so much alcohol.According to information received, Bhagwat reached home on Thursday evening in an intoxicated condition. When Rambhi forbade him from drinking, he allegedly became furious, threw her to the ground and began beating her.Hearing her screams, Nanhe Bhai, who was sitting nearby, tried to stop his son, but Bhagwat did not stop. Police said Nanhe Bhai then struck Bhagwat on the head from behind with a heavy stick, causing him to fall to the ground bleeding. When Bhagwat lay on the ground writhing, Nanhe Bhai allegedly picked up a heavy stone lying nearby and struck Bhagwat on the head.Bhagwat’s head split open and he became unconscious, police said.
Neighbours who arrived after hearing cries took Bhagwat, covered in blood, to the Community Health Centre Jaitpur, where doctors on duty declared him dead.In-charge Station House Officer Dharmendra Kumar said that information had been received about a father killing his son in Anandpura Badera village.Police said Bhagwat was extremely addicted to alcohol and used to fight and engage in physical violence with his parents at home day after day.Rambhi said while crying that her daughter-in-law, Premvati, whom Bhagwat married 10 years ago, came to her in-laws’ house only 3-4 times and then left for her parental home forever, allegedly due to Bhagwat’s habit of beating and abusing her. Police said that even after his wife left, Bhagwat continued spending all the money he earned from hard labour on alcohol.Police said the body was sent for post-mortem after the punchnama was completed. They said the matter was being investigated in depth and lawful legal action would be taken.
