JEE stars from Tricity ace Advanced, bag top ranks
Chandigarh: Students from Chandigarh and Panchkula put up a strong performance in JEE Advanced 2026, with several candidates securing top All India Ranks (AIRs). Yajat Shinghal of Panchkula emerged as the top performer from the region with AIR 21, followed by Arnav Gandhi (AIR 36), Aarush Singhal (AIR 45) and Aditya Gupta (AIR 81).
Yajat, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, Panchkula, also secured AIR 100 in JEE Main 2026. He qualified the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) and attended the Indian Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) in Classes XI and XII. He also appeared in the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO) this year. Yajat, who developed an abiding interest in Mathematics early on, said concept clarity and nearly eight hours of regular self-study formed the core of his preparation.
Arnav Gandhi, also from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 15, secured AIR 36 after AIR 22 in JEE Main. He qualified IOQM in Class 10, IOQM and RMO in Class 11, and NSEP and NSEC in Class XII. Arnav credited consistent practice and analysing mistakes after mock tests for his steady improvement. He studied six to eight hours daily and aims to pursue computer science engineering at IIT Mumbai.
Aarush Singhal of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27-B, Chandigarh, secured AIR 45 after an impressive AIR 8 in JEE Main. He qualified multiple Olympiads, including INMO, INPhO, INChO and INAO, and attended training camps. Aarush said shorter but focused study sessions helped him more than long hours.
Aditya Gupta of Sri Chaitanya Techno School secured AIR 81, scoring 278 out of 360. He had earlier achieved a 99.9 percentile in JEE Main. Aditya said continuous analysis and reducing errors played a key role in his preparation. He followed a rigorous study schedule of around 12.5 hours daily.
