KURUKSHETRA: Two miscreants shot at a man in Shahabad's Jalebi Pul area in Kurukshetra district late at night on Sunday. The injured man has been identified as Sunil Bhatia, who does mining work.Sunil was rushed to civil hospital in Shahabad from where he was taken for treatment to Adesh Hospital on the national highway 44. The doctors at Adesh Hospital referred him further for treatment to PGIMER, Chandigarh.As per police, two bullets hit Sunil, one in his neck and shoulder while another in his left thigh. The miscreants fled the spot immediately after committing the crime.Shahabad SHO Jagdish Kumar reached the hospital to investigate the matter and initiated further action after registering a case against unknown persons. The family members and relatives of Sunil also reached the hospital.Congress Shahabad MLA Ram Karan Kala also reached Adesh Hospital to meet Sunil and his family members.“Such firing incidents have become a routine in the region. A person who is earning his livelihood by doing hard work is not safe. It is a failure of the police and administration. Extortions are being demanded in small towns like Shahabad and Ladwa.
There is a serious lapse on part of the government. Our entire Shahabad region is standing firmly with Sunil’s family and we pray for his early wellbeing”, said Shahabad MLA Ram Karan.The MLA said that the state government must work to bring out the misled youth from clutches of the anti-social elements. The MLA demanded from Haryana chief minister to give strict and exemplary punishment to such elements and give justice to Sunil’s family.SHO Kumar said that the condition of Sunil is reported to be stable and he has undergone a major surgery at Chandigarh hospital.“We have formed five special teams to trace the miscreants and the accused would be apprehended soon. The motive behind the firing incident would be ascertained after the arrests are made”, said SHO Kumar.
