Woman killed, husband injured as truck hits bike in Pilibhit

Pilibhit: A 39-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured when their motorcycle was hit head-on by an unidentified speeding truck in Jagatpur village of Pilibhit district on Monday.Rajkumari Devi, a resident of Bhura Sarainda village, died on the spot, while her husband, Mahesh Kumar, 42, a village rozgar sevak with the district development department, sustained fractures to his leg and ribs.Avdhesh Kumar, in-charge of the Karor police outpost under Barkhera police station, said Mahesh was initially taken to a community health centre and later shifted to the Autonomous State Medical College in Pilibhit. He was subsequently referred to a higher medical facility in Bareilly after receiving preliminary treatment.SHO Satyendra Kumar said, “The truck driver fled after the incident and efforts are on to trace the vehicle. An FIR would be registered after a written complaint is received."
