Woman dies after drunk husband kicks her

Pilibhit: A 28-year-old woman died on Thursday after her husband allegedly kicked her on the chest when she tried to stop him from drinking in Pilibhit district.Nanhi Devi of Bithaura Kalan village had been admitted to Autonomous State Medical College with fractured ribs. Police said the injuries may have caused severe internal damage. The postmortem report is yet to arrive, said police. Devi’s mother, Kamala Devi, said, “My daughter got married to Naveen Kumar, a labourer, in 2018. His drinking habits strained their marital relations and he used to beat Nanhi almost every day.”SHO Brajveer Singh said the initial FIR against Naveen Kumar was registered under BNS sections related to voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult and criminal intimidation. After the woman’s death, section 105 (culpable homicide) was added to the FIR. Police said the accused was absconding and efforts were on to trace him.
