Woman killed in accident, locals block road

Prayagraj: A woman died after being hit by a speeding truck in Karma bazar area on Gohania-Karma route under the limits of Ghurpur police station on Monday.

Agitated over the incident, the locals blocked the road demanding action against the errant truck driver. On being alerted, senior police officials, including ACP (Kaudhiyara), along with forces arrived at the spot and pacified the agitators.

The incident took place around 1:30pm when a truck hit a bike carrying the woman resulting in her death on the spot, said police. The driver fled the scene abandoning the truck. The police have seized the truck and a team has been formed to arrest the truck driver.
