Queen Elizabeth death LIVE Updates: King Charles III pledges to uphold constitutional principles in his first speech
King Charles III made his first address on Friday as the British Monarch, where he vowed to carry on his mother's 'lifelong service' to the nation. This comes a day after British Queen Elizabeth II passed away. She was 96. She was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and a rock of stability across much of a turbulent century. The queen -- an instantly recognisable figure to billions of people across the world -- is in her Platinum Jubilee year, marking 70 years since she succeeded her father king George VI in 1952.

All her children -- heir to the throne Prince Charles, 73, Princess Anne, 72, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, were either at or heading to join her at the Balmoral royal estate in Scotland, aides said.
