Iran war news: Missile strike damages water reservoirs in southern Iran, cuts drinking water to 20,000 people
At least 20,000 people in southern Iran have lost access to drinking water after two water reservoirs were hit by missiles, according to Iran's state-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
Abdul Hamid Hamzehpour, chief executive of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company, said two concrete reservoirs in the Bamani district with a combined storage capacity of 2,500 cubic metres were struck and put completely out of service.
The damaged facilities supplied drinking water to the town of Kouhestak and 10 nearby villages.
Authorities have launched emergency measures, including water deliveries by tanker trucks and the installation of temporary pumping systems. The estimated damage to the infrastructure is around 140 billion tomans ($795,000), according to the report.
