M McClenaghan to L Rahul, SIX! Biggie! It isn't convincing by any means. Short of a length ball on the leg stump line, Rahul moves across and looks to play the horizontal bat stroke. He gets a top edge right back over the keeper and the ball flies over the fence for a maximum.
M McClenaghan to C Gayle, Fullish delivery on the leg stump line, Gayle gently nudges it to deep square leg. Another run added to the total.
M McClenaghan to L Rahul, Good length ball closer to the off stump, Rahul pushes it in the gap through the covers. Single taken, Punjab get underway in this run chase.
We are back for the chase. 187 to win and it'll be Chris Gayle along with KL Rahul to open the Punjab innings. Mitchell McClenaghan to take the new ball first up. A slip in place. Here we go...
There was a slight hold up in play as couple of light towers broke down. On resumption, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya counter-attacked the bowlers. The duo added a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket and were all set to end on a high. However, Punjab once again made a mini comeback in the game with wickets in the death overs and restricted them under 190. Ashwin got the important wickets and he along with Tye ensured not too many runs were leaked in the final few overs. Punjab have a daunting task awaiting them, 186 is a massive score to overhaul in a game. Can they hold on to their nerves and chase under pressure? We will find out soon, do join us back in a while for the run chase.
Mumbai have ended up with a good score on the board. I term it as a good score purely because of the state their innings was in at the half way stage. Mumbai started really well, Suryakumar Yadav looked in great rhytm as the hosts smashed 37 off the first three overs and they were all set to dominate the game. Punjab though had the other plans, Tye struck thrice and a wicket from Rajpoot ensured the contest was tilting in their favor at the half way mark. The visiting team pulled things back quite sharply courtesy clever variations from the Aussie who by far the best bowler of the evening. It was his third Four-fer in this last four games, he has been in some phenomenal form.
M Sharma to M Markande, So not much damage from the resulting no ball in the end, but still, the hosts have managed to get three extra runs. Could be all the difference when it comes down to it. Markande works this off his pads on the leg side and takes a single. MUMBAI FINISH ON 186/8!
M Sharma to M McClenaghan, Another leg bye. Quite full on off, McClenaghan moves across to flick it away but wears it on the pads. It rolls away and the batsmen change ends.
M Sharma to M Markande, Just a leg bye results. Slower length ball on middle and off, Markande moves across to scoop it but it goes off his thigh pad behind to the keeper. The batsmen take a leg bye.
M Sharma to M McClenaghan, Not out! It's a no ball! Surprising. Full toss from Mohit Sharma, McClenaghan moves across, kneels down on his knees and swings across the line. Gets a top edge which flies into the hands of Ashwin at short fine leg. The umpire, for some reason, thinks it's a no ball and takes it upstairs. The TV umpire too thinks the same and signals a no ball. Not sure how when Mitch was practically on the floor. Anyway, Free Hit coming up...
McClenaghan is given out caught at short fine leg. Height seems to be the issue for the umpire. Let's check it upstairs.
M Sharma to M McClenaghan, Good slower one. Keeps a little low too which does the trick. Well outside off, McClenaghan swings and misses.
M Sharma to M McClenaghan, Wide! Comes from around the wicket and darts it well outside off, across the tramline and that's a wide.
M Sharma to M Markande, Back-of-the-hand slower one from Mohit, on a good length on middle and off. Markande taps it down gently on the off side and crosses over.
M Sharma to M Markande, FOUR! Short and wide outside off, Markande reaches out to it and lofts it well over backward point. Nobody out there in the deep, so the ball will race away. Good start to the over for Mumbai.
Mohit Sharma back on. He will bowl the final over.
A Tye to M McClenaghan, Swing and a miss. McClenaghan tries to slog one across the line and misses it. Tye finishes with brilliant figures, which reads 4-0-16-4.
A Tye to M McClenaghan, Slower ball from Tye outside off, a big swing from McClenaghan but he ends up missing it to the keeper.
A Tye to M McClenaghan, FOUR! Low full toss outside off stump, McClenaghan opens the face of the bat and slices it smartly over backward point. No one out in the deep to stop it and the ball races away to the boundary.
