Want to have a sharp memory?

You might have come across that one friend or a colleague who remembers every single detail and trivial details down to the last bit. Have you ever wondered how do they manage to remember every detail with fine precision or thought what do they snack on?

2/8

Expert backed advice for you!

Well, what if we told you it is not just the diet but some simple mind tricks which make them a memory genius? According to experts, following these easy tips help the brain process information in a better fashion and improve your memory. If you want to expand your potential, take note of these habits:

3/8

Stop multitasking

The best of the people (and leaders) don't multitask and there are strong reasons you shouldn't too! Simply said, multitasking divides your attention and can make it difficult for the mind to process or remember things, as and when needed. The more information you consume, the lesser you are able to emphasize on the important stuff. A good practical measure to do this would be to stop using the cell phones away while doing basic chores, be it reading, eating or watching television. It makes you distracted and puts the focus away from memory.

4/8

Organization

Collecting and organizing memories and information helps you focus on the important parts and clear away the extra bits. Carrying out routine tasks, something as simple as writing things down, cleaning or setting reminders can help store information, perform tasks efficiently and best of all, make sure you don't forget the important stuff.

5/8

Meditate regularly

There are enough proven benefits of meditation, yoga, and chanting and one of them includes improving memory retention. Meditation boosts nerve connections, clears away the stress and the toxins and focuses on the important stuff, away from the clutter. It might also alter the structure in the brain and fine-tune the nerves which help you pay attention.

6/8

Sleep on time

Sleeping on time has more benefits than just rested eyes. Getting good quality sleep boosts brain health and the part of the brain which exclusively stores and synchronizes memories. Researchers have found that people who manage to get a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep are able to retain memories better than those who got less than five hours of sleep. Adequate sleep was found to be better for your vortex than oversleeping (which is over nine hours).

7/8

Make mental connections

According to experts, people with the sharpest brains and memory attach a mental picture to everything. Gathering new information, attaching some memory to it can help you remember something in a better manner and recall it when you need to. It can be simply something as simple as sound or odor, but associations can help keep the brain healthy.

In the same way, you should make it a habit to review and synthesize information once your process it. This way, you engage the brain's frontal cortex and keep the brain in the best shape.

8/8

Exercise and be physically active

It goes without saying that exercising is good for your physical fitness but what many don't realize is that engaging in some form of exercise is also good for your mental activity. Your memory and brain activity can get impaired by health problems like blood pressure or mismanaged blood sugar levels, which can happen when you do not exercise.

Exercising also delivers key nutrients to the brain which boost memory, cognitive functions and learning. Hence, make sure to not skip out on those 30-45 minutes of physical activity!
