Forged documents to get KGCE certificate
Thiruvananthapuram: Karamana police arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly attempting to obtain an engineering certificate by submitting forged documents and a tampered mark list to the office of controller of technical examinations. The accused, identified as Sanil Jose, a resident of Sakthan Nagar in Thrissur, was arrested following a complaint filed by joint controller of technical examinations. According to police, the accused approached the office claiming that his original Kerala Govt Certificate Examination (KGCE) certificate had been lost. KGCE is a technical qualification awarded under technical education system and is recognised for various engineering-related trades and diploma-level courses. During verification of records, officials reportedly noticed discrepancies in the documents submitted by Jose. A detailed scrutiny revealed manipulation of academic records, prompting the authorities to initiate further inquiries. The accused was taken into custody and questioned. Police are examining whether Jose had used similar forged documents in the past or received assistance from others in preparing the records. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
