Nagaland man missing from Bhosari, no leads after a week

Pune: A 23-year-old youth from Nagaland who came to Pune for work has gone missing under mysterious circumstances from the Bhosari area of Pimpri Chinchwad, prompting members of the Naga community to seek police intervention.The youth identified as Langpong C, a native of Sansangnyu village of the Tuesnang district of Nagaland was reported missing on June 3, two days after arriving in the city to work at a hotel.According to members of the Naga community, the youth had travelled outside Nagaland for the first time. His disappearance has raised suspicion as he left behind his cellphone and other personal belongings at his accommodation before going missing.Ganesh Jamadar, senior police inspector at Bhosari MIDC police station, said a missing person case has been registered and an investigation is underway. “The hotel owner where the youth was employed lodged the complaint. We are in touch with his family and are exploring all possible leads. So far, there has been no clue about his whereabouts,” Jamadar said.Police said Langpong was staying with friends from Nagaland in the Indrayaninagar area and had recently joined the same hotel where they worked. His accommodation was located within walking distance of the hotel.SK Souriio Hitler, advisor to the Naga Students’ Union Pune (NSUP), said community members visited the police station and contacted Langpong’s family immediately after learning about his disappearance, but no breakthrough has been made so far.“A CCTV footage accessed by the police shows him leaving the hotel. However, he has not been captured in any of the other CCTV footage examined by investigators till now. Some of his roommates were present in the room when he left, but he never returned. When he remained untraceable the following day, a missing complaint was filed,” Hitler said.He added that more than a week has passed without any information on Langpong’s whereabouts. “He did not know anyone in Pune apart from his roommates. If he had decided to return home, he would have reached Nagaland within four days, but his family has confirmed that he never arrived. His roommates also told us that he appeared happy and had informed his father that both the workplace and accommodation were good. There was nothing to suggest that he was unhappy or under any stress,” Hitler said.
