Patna: The chancellor’s secretariat on Monday invited applications for the appointment of pro-vice-chancellors in 14 conventional state universities. The last date for receipt of applications is July 1.
According to a notification, online applications have been invited from eligible candidates for the pro-vice-chancellorship in Patna, Patliputra, Magadh, L N Mithila, BRA Bihar, TNB Bhagalpur, K S D Sanskrit, B N Mandal, Jaya Prakash, Veer Kunwar Singh, Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian, Purnea, Munger and Nalanda Open universities. None of these universities has had a pro-VC for quite some time.
The notification stated that the essential qualifications, experience and other eligibility conditions for the post are the same as those prescribed for the vice-chancellor.
The post of pro-VC in state universities was created in 1982 following amendments to the Patna University Act, 1976, and the Bihar Universities Act, 1976. Pro-VCs are appointed by the chancellor in consultation with the state govt, in the same manner as vice-chancellors, for a term not exceeding three years.
