The Nashik Road police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS for theft.
Nashik: A 500-metre-long, jelly-filled underground telephone cable worth Rs 35 lakh was stolen between May 30 to May 31 from the Nashik Road area, police said.According to the police, the theft took occurred between 8am on May 30 and 10am of May 31.As per the complaint, unidentified people opened the chamber of underground telephone wires in the Bytco area of Nashik Road, pulled out 500 metres of the wire and escaped with it.On a complaint, the Nashik Road police registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS for theft.Senior PI Jitendra Sapkale said that they detained three suspects in the theft case and their interrogation was underway.The underground telephone copper wire was extremely and the copper can fetch a good price in the grey market.According to the police, there are many gangs of burglars who target stealing copper wires that are not usually guarded. There were many thefts at sub stations of the state electricity company in the past considering the lucrative market for copper in the grey market.The case was being investigated further.
