Madurai: Madurai city police arrested two men from the Sri Lankan Tamil rehabilitation camp at Anaiyur for allegedly damaging CCTV cameras and focus lights installed for security surveillance.
Police said the incident occurred on the night of May 26 under the Koodal Pudur police station limits. The accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when they created a disturbance and damaged the surveillance equipment inside the camp.
Following a complaint, Koodal Pudur police registered a case and launched an investigation.
The arrested persons were identified as
Chandru, 28, son of Deivendran, and Sudhan alias Ajay, 26, son of Suresh. Both were residents of the same rehabilitation camp.
Police produced the duo before a court, which remanded them in judicial custody. They were later lodged in Puzhal prison in Chennai.
