Mother, daughter killed after speeding car hits them on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in UP's Etawah

KANPUR:A mother and daughter were killed instantly when a speeding car struck them on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Takha police station area of Etawah district early Friday morning. The incident happened near Khargapur Saraiya village at kilometer 128.9 around 4 am.According to the police, the driver of a sleeper bus traveling from Siddharthnagar to Delhi had stopped on the expressway to let passengers relieve themselves. During this pause, Kusum (50) and her daughter Anjali (13), from Khojpur village in Siddharthnagar district, got off the bus and, disoriented in the darkness, walked toward the central divider. A car coming from behind hit them forcefully, resulting in their immediate deaths.Upon receiving the report, Usrahar police station and the expressway security team arrived at the scene. The police took charge of the bodies, sent them to Saifai PGI for autopsy, and notified the family members.The car driver was identified as Harsh Pandey from Dawatpur village in Fatehpur district. The car was seized at the Kudrail expressway post.Station House Officer Balrajsingh Bhati stated that initial investigations suggested the accident might have been prevented if the bus driver had let passengers off at a toll plaza or another safe area. He noted that the accident was caused by disorientation in the heavy darkness. Traffic on the expressway remained unaffected.
