Kanpur: Humid and sultry weather conditions continued to trouble residents
of Kanpur on Friday despite a slight dip in temperature. High moisture
levels caused widespread discomfort across the city.
According to weather data, the maximum temperature on Saturday was
recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than Friday’s 39 degree
Celsius. The minimum temperature settled at 27.8 degrees Celsius against
the expected 30 degrees Celsius.
The hot and humid atmosphere left citizens exhausted throughout the day.
North-Western winds blowing at a speed of 6.3 km per hour swept across
the city, while maximum relative humidity touched 62 percent, intensifying
the uneasy conditions. Many residents complained that even air coolers were adding to the humidity inside rooms.
The weather in the Kanpur division is expected to remain mainly clear and
dry over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures forecast to range
between 39°C and 41°C and minimum temperatures between 28°C and
31°C. Intense heat and humidity caused by hot north-westerly winds will be
experienced during the afternoon, while partial cloud cover in the evening
or late night may bring slight relief.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the sky will
remain clear during the day with bright sunshine. The maximum temperature
will be around 39°C, and the minimum around 29°C. Hot winds (resembling a
heatwave) will blow in the afternoon, but light cloud cover is likely in
the evening.
Dr. S. Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University, said that due to
increased atmospheric moisture, strong winds, thunderclouds, and light rain
or drizzle are likely to continue in the Kanpur division during afternoon
hours in the coming days.
He added that temperatures are expected to fluctuate during the week, while
humid and sultry conditions are also likely to intensify further, causing
inconvenience to residents.
