Khargone: An argument over overtaking on Indore-Ichhapur highway turned into a violent road rage incident in Khargone district on Thursday, leaving a young man seriously injured after he was allegedly hit and dragged by a car. A CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the victim being run over and dragged on the road.
The incident took place near a gurudwara in Kurawat village under Balwada police station limits. According to police, Chandan Goyal, a resident of Narwal in Ujjain district, was travelling to Omkareshwar with friends when a dispute broke out with occupants of another car over overtaking and alleged reckless driving.
Police said both vehicles initially moved on after the altercation. However, they encountered each other again a short distance away, where the argument resumed and escalated. Goyal alleged that during the confrontation, the car driver deliberately drove towards him, knocking him down and dragging him for several metres.
Goyal sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by his friends and local residents. He was later referred to Indore for advanced treatment.

Balwada police station in-charge Ritesh Yadav said a case was registered on Thursday evening. The vehicle involved has been identified and its registered owner traced as Sabir Khan. Police are verifying who was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.
