Times News NetworkBarwani: Over 140 kg cannabis was seized from a house and one person was arrested in Warla police station area of Barwani on Friday afternoon.Sendhwa sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Ajay Waghmare told mediapersons that police received a tip-off that a large quantity of cannabis had been concealed in a house in Brahmane Falya locality of Panjariya village.“A police team led by Warla SHO Narayan Rawal raided the premises and recovered 29 plastic bags hidden behind stacks of grain sacks,” Waghmare said. The bags contained a total of 147 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth Rs 32.34 lakh, he added.The police said that the house owner, Shantilal Barela, was not present when the raid was conducted. “His nephew, Badiya alias Kamis Barela (21), who was present in the house was detained. During questioning, he allegedly admitted ownership of the contraband, following which he was arrested,” Waghmare said.A case has been registered under Sections 8 and 20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Warla police station.
