Job scam busted: Two held in Kalaburagi for duping youth of Rs 5 lakh
Kalaburagi: Raghavendra Nagar police in Kalaburagi city arrested two men on charges of cheating members of the public and unemployed youth by promising to secure govt jobs in various departments.
The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on Friday. The arrested men were identified as Premsham Kumar, 32, and Jagannath Singh Prasad, 40, both natives of Bihar.
Police said four mobile phones, six ATM cards, PAN cards and Aadhaar cards were seized from them. The case was registered at Raghavendra Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by Ashraf, 35, a resident of Azadpur Road in Kalaburagi city, following which an investigation was launched.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly extorted Rs 5 lakh from him by claiming they could secure govt jobs in the railway, postal and police departments in Karnataka, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Police said the accused duped victims by making them believe employment was guaranteed.
City police commissioner Sharanappa SD took the case seriously and formed a special team led by the ACP of South sub-division. Raghavendra Nagar inspector Wajeed Patel, along with ASI Mallikarjuna Jane, head constable Mallan Gowda and personnel Umesh, Sharanubasava, Amresh, Prashant and Basavaraj, carried out a search operation and tracked down the accused.
Commissioner Sharanappa SD appreciated the team for arresting the accused, producing them in court and remanding them to judicial custody. He urged the public to stay alert and avoid falling prey to fraudsters, and to inform the police immediately about any suspicious activities.
