Shimla: Chief minister
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the labour and employment department to digitise all its services, including the issuance of certificates and licences, to ensure convenience and transparency for citizens.
The directive was issued during a review meeting of the department held in Shimla on Tuesday. Reviewing various welfare schemes being implemented by the department, Sukhu instructed officials to ensure that benefits reach all eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner.
Sukhu said under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-up Yojana-2023, eligible youth are being provided a 50% subsidy for the purchase of e-taxis. For the financial year 2026-27, the govt has earmarked Rs 50 crore to extend the subsidy to 500 additional beneficiaries, he said.
The CM also announced that another 500 youth would receive a 50% capital subsidy through direct benefit transfer for purchasing e-rickshaws.
To further strengthen trade and industry, Sukhu highlighted amendments made to the Himachal Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1969. The revised provisions permit shops and commercial establishments to operate round the clock, offering greater flexibility to businesses and enhanced convenience for consumers. He added that the govt is also simplifying compliance procedures while ensuring workers' welfare and protection remain a priority.
