‘At 91, not worried by threat to life’: Simranjit Mann

Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the head of the Damdami Taksal, Harnam Singh Dhumma, alleging that the Sikh seminary had threatened to eliminate him.Addressing the media, Mann said that at 91, he had little concern for such threats. "If they want to shoot me, let them. Sikhs are not afraid of bullets. It is said bullets cannot stop a setting sun. Such actions are futile," he said.The remarks come days after Dhumma reportedly warned Mann that he would expose his "secrets" and asserted that Mann had attained his current political stature, including his election as an MP, with the support of Damdami Taksal.Mann accused Dhumma of acting contrary to Sikh principles. "As the head of Damdami Taksal, you cannot serve a Shivling, bow before it, and take dips in the Ganges," he said, in an apparent reference to Dhumma's alleged religious practices.The exchange marks a further escalation in the ongoing war of words between the two Sikh leaders.
