Bengaluru: A family dispute took a violent turn when a man allegedly stormed into an apartment complex armed with a machete on May 28 and attacked his in-laws in broad daylight.
According to the complaint filed by Syed Ahmed, 54, the incident occurred amid an ongoing legal battle involving his daughter, Syeda Neha, and her estranged husband, Farhan Mubarak, a resident of RT Nagar.
Ahmed, an employee with the public works dept residing at the BDA apartment in Kumbalagodu, said Mubarak married his elder daughter, Neha, six years ago, and they have a son. However, marital differences developed between the couple, following which Neha left with her son to her parents’ house.
Ahmed said his daughter, currently working in Mumbai, filed a divorce case against Mubarak. Legal proceedings between the couple are reportedly pending before a court.
On May 28, at 6pm, Ahmed was playing with his grandson in a nearby park when Mubarak arrived at his residence. He allegedly dragged his wife, Nasreena Bhanu, 50, out of the house and assaulted her on the street with a machete. Hearing the commotion, Ahmed attempted to rescue his wife. Mubarak then allegedly struck him on the head and right hand with the machete.
