From feeling proud to be known as Shefali Jariwala’s husband to still using her toothbrush; Parag Tyagi recalls moments with his late wife

Actor Parag Tyagi fondly remembers his late wife, actress Shefali Jariwala, as he recalls their most heartfelt memories — from their simple rituals to the deep bond they shared. In an emotional conversation with his friend Deepak Verma, he opens up about their love story, the little things that kept them connected, and how he continues to keep her presence alive even after her passing.

2/7

Their Ritual

For Parag and Shefali, love was built on simple yet meaningful gestures. “What Shefali has done for me, no one else can,” he says. Their favorite ritual was sitting together while he massaged her feet as they watched TV. It became their symbol of care and comfort, a private language of love that reflected their deep, unspoken connection.

3/7

Love in Simplicity

Parag believes true love lies in simplicity, not grand gestures. His first gift to Shefali was a Bluetooth speaker, something she truly loved. He shares, “People gift expensive things, but Pari appreciated small joys.” For him, relationships aren’t about comparisons but about cherishing what two people uniquely share — their little moments, memories, and the love only they understand.

4/7

Parag Gets Emotional

Parag’s voice trembles as he speaks about life after Shefali’s passing. “She changed my style, my fashion sense… everything,” he says. Overwhelmed with grief, he admits, “I don’t know who will take care of me now. I don’t even know how to live without her.” Even today, he struggles to accept that the woman who brought so much light to his life is gone.

5/7

He Still Uses Her Toothbrush

Holding on to Shefali’s presence, Parag continues to use her toothbrush and sleeps on her pillow. He keeps her unwashed clothes wrapped under his blanket. “I can’t wear them because they’re too small, but I sleep with them every night,” he says. Even parcels she ordered kept arriving days after she left, making her absence painfully real.

6/7

Why Shefali Called Parag ‘Papa’

Shefali lovingly called Parag ‘Papa’ because of the way he cared for her. “In anyone’s life, a father is the symbol of unconditional love,” he explains. He cherished her like a child, while she appeared angelic to him, earning the nickname ‘Pari.’ This tender exchange of names became a reflection of their bond — pure, nurturing, and eternal.

7/7

Proud to Be Known as Her Husband

Parag beams with pride when he recalls Shefali’s achievements. “When Pari’s career grew, I felt so proud to be known as Shefali Jariwala’s husband,” he says. There was never insecurity between them, only admiration. Watching her work hard and succeed brought him joy, as he celebrated every milestone of hers as if it were his own.

I am really overwhelmed by his love for Shefali. But I don't understand why he didn't play kaanta lagaa at her funeral. Wouldn't it have been an ultimate honour to her?
