The entire north India is under the spell of rainfall, hailstorms and snowfall. The national capital woke up to a rather chilly morning today after being hit by heavy rains and hailstorms. The rain started at around 7 AM and a hailstorm took over soon in several parts of Delhi which further contributed to fall in temperature. The national capital has been under the spell of winter rains from the past four days now. Read less
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Delhi NCR region will see more rain and hailstorms the whole day.

Uttrakhand
Uttarakhand too has reported a major dip in temperature due to heavy rains. All the Chardham destinations are covered with white sheets of snow. The meteorological department has also issued an orange alert in Uttrakhand. The higher Himalayan regions including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib are under the spell of snow. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy snowfall in Champawat, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi.
The hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh too received fresh snowfall on Tuesday morning, while the plains were hit by heavy rain. An avalanche alert has been issued in Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba till January 6. As per Meteorological Center Shimla, rain and snowfall will continue in the state because of which several major roads have been closed to traffic.
While entire North India is receiving heavy rainfall, south Indian states too are hit by rainfall. Chances of heavy rains are there in Tamil Nadu and Kerala while Chennai continues to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
