During the Prime Minister’s 75th Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, many key points were noted. One such point was about the importance of developing tourism in the North East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the North East has a massive potential when it comes to tourism, and adventure sports. It is important to harness the potential of the North Eastern states.
The Prime Minister also mentioned a National Infrastructure Master Plan that is being called Gati Shakti. He said that currently there is no coordinator between the means of transport in India, through Gati Shakti all obstacles will be removed. Furthermore, travel time will also be reduced for the citizens in the country.
He said, “Rapid progress is underway whether it is development of new waterways or connecting new places with seaplanes. Indian Railways is also rapidly adapting to its modern avatar. The pace at which new airports are being built in the country and the UDAN scheme connecting remote areas is unprecedented. We can see how better air connectivity gives new flights to people's dreams.”
The northeast consists of seven sister states, Tripura, Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Mizoram. Blessed by natural wonders, and relatively unexplored, they have a huge tourism potential.
