Take the adventure quotient up a notch and explore one of the few accessible Crystal Caves in the world. Most tour operators offer ice-caving adventures in Vatnajokull in South East Iceland, and Langjokull in South West Iceland. These ice caves are formed under Icelandic glaciers every winter and are mesmerising to say the least. The glassy blue walls and roofs of the caves will make you feel like you’re walking into Narnia. Dramatic shards and smooth walls co-exist in harmony here. There are dozens of interconnected frozen chambers. In addition to this, there are strange ice-formations on all sides—it’s hard to stop fawning over the marvels of nature here.
It’s best to visit the caves under professional supervision. Waterproof warm clothes and hiking boots are compulsory, so make sure you come well-equipped. These ice caves are accessibly only during winter months because certain parts of the caves melt during the summer. This is truly an adventure like no other. You can definitely boast about having been on one of the most unique tours in the world once you’re back home.
