Talk of the town: Six Acres stands on the original sight of famous gasbagger John 'Gassy Jack' Deighton's 19th century watering hole, the Deighton Hotel.
This Gastown boozer is housed in Vancouver's oldest brick building, dating from the 1880s. It was on this very spot that the city's first saloon bar opened, so it's perhaps fitting that it's still the place to come for proper drinks, honest conversation and great grub.

Inside, there's spacious seating at tables or up at the bar and the outdoor patio absolutely heaves in summer. Stop by and chat with all the young entrepreneurs and store owners who come here for a bite at lunchtime.
