Synopsis
The airport lies about 15 miles west of the city in Kenner, and will feel quite small and calm to flyers accustomed to the frantic hubs of O'Hare, JFK and Houston (through which much of New Orleans' air traffic connects).

Airport serving New Orleans and Southern Louisiana
Talk of the town: At the end of the central vaulted hall is a mural depicting the 20th century's great jazz musicians, and a statue of ol' Satchmo himself in white tux, his lips locked around his trumpet. The airport lies about 15 miles west of the city in Kenner, and will feel quite small and calm to flyers accustomed to the frantic hubs of O'Hare, JFK and Houston (through which much of New Orleans' air traffic connects).
Getting to and from the airport is simplest by cab - a single ride will cost around USD 33. Also convenient is the airport's 24-hour shuttle service, which costs USD 20 per person (USD 14 if three or more passengers).
The E-2 bus to and from CBD leaves outside airport Entrance #7 on the upper level and costs USD 2. Weekdays, the last bus to New Orleans leaves the airport at 6.14pm, dropping off at the intersection of Tulane and Loyola downtown (two blocks northwest of the French Quarter). At weekends, it goes only as far as the parish boundary line at Loyola and S Carrollton in Mid City, which is far from where most people will want to be. Get a cab.
