Nedou’s is the oldest hotel in Gulmarg and was established in 1888. According to the hotel website, the person who started the hotel, Michael Adam Nedou, was so enamoured by this meadow of flowers that he decided to establish the hotel there.
The hotel offers cottages, luxury suites, as well as executive and standard rooms. In essence, the hotel falls under luxury to mid-range category. Luxury suites and cottages are beautifully decorated and are truly grand. All suites and cottages are centrally heated and have running hot water available 24 hours. Additionally, each suite and cottage has a dedicated butler who ensures that guests are comfortable. Executive and standard rooms are well appointed and have running hot water throughout the day. These rooms are heated using wood fired heaters or bukharis.
Dining at Nedou’s is a warm experience. The hotel takes pride in the freshly prepared dishes that taste like delicious home-made food. They also prepare several special dishes on request, recipes of which have been passed on from generation to generation and are a closely guarded secret.
Views from the hotel and especially the garden are spectacular as the hotel is located away from the hustle and bustle of the market area and away from other resorts in Gulmarg. While this ensures peace, it also means that it is a little distance away from the Gondola and the main market and unless you love walking reasonably long distances, you will need a transport to get you anywhere from the hotel.
