This historic hotel is located downtown Calgary and is the city’s oldest and most luxurious hotel, looking more like a castle than a hotel. A fun fact about this hotel is that they were the first in Alberta to obtain a liquor licence after Alberta got rid of prohibition in 1924. Constant renovations keep this hotel at the top of the list in terms of luxury. So what makes it so luxurious? It could be the speciality suites they offer here, including the Heritage Suite which is decked out with antique and timeless travel treasures, as well as a dining room, ornamental fireplace, living room and two bathrooms. Or perhaps it is the Royal Suite that makes this hotel so sought after; it was where Queen Elizabeth II stayed in 1990 and features two bathrooms, a large dining area that seats 6 guests, living room, and a large bedroom. The Rimrock is where you will want to eat while staying here; taking you back to the golden era of travel as the room is decorated in prohibition themed décor, and the food is skillfully dished out by some of the best chefs in Calgary. Try out the state-of- the-art fitness centre while you are here, have afternoon tea in the hotel, or use the royal service guest hotline to get anything you could possibly need while you stay here.
