Dalí Theatre-Museum

Fascinating museum devoted to the works of the surrealist painter
Noteworthy for: This is the second most visited museum in Spain, after the Prado in Madrid.

Word to the wise: If you're flying into Girona airport, make the Dalí museum your first stop; it is only 50km north.
You don't need to be a huge Dalí fan to get something out of this museum dedicated to his life and work: just have an appreciation for the eccentric and bizarre. Situated about two hours north of Barcelona in the Spanish artist's hometown, the museum was conceived entirely by Dalí, who not only created collections specifically for the space but designed the characteristically mind-bending building.

Inside you can view one of the largest collections of Dalí's work in the world, spanning his entire career, as well as other artist's works that Dalí wanted to exhibit.

Plan to spend a day out here; aside from the museum you can take a stroll in the town and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. You can get here via RENFE train from Barcelona Sants station followed by a 15-minute walk to the museum.
