Located in Jalan Kurau—an intimate strip not far from the main party drag that is the Telawi area of Bangsar—Ganga is still one of KL’s better-kept secrets. Spartan simple, with unassuming furniture in an unadorned but pristine setting, Ganga serves vegetarian Gujarati food that is MSG-free, and uses organic vegetables harvested from their own farm. Spartan simple, with unassuming furniture in an unadorned but pristine setting, Ganga serves vegetarian Gujarati food that is MSG-free, and uses organic vegetables harvested from their own farm. Processed ingredients are largely avoided, and top quality ghee is used as a matter of principle. For an eatery of such modest size, Ganga has an extensive breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner menu, and the food—whether it’s the hara bhara kabab (crispy spinach and potato patties), chickpea dhoklas or dudhi chana—is is uniformly sprightly. Make sure you try the Sunday brunch buffet (11am - 3pm) which, at 16 MYR for adults and a meagre 7 MYR for children and seniors, is a much more salubrious—and wallet-friendly—alternative to artery-clogging meat and eggs.
