When in Prague, long walks to Charles Bridge are obligatory and stopping by Krusta Artisan Bakery in order to sample trdelnik, the city’s favourite dessert, is imperative. Bits of rich pastry are rolled around a stick, grilled until golden brown, topped with sugar crystals and walnuts and often filled with whipped cream, strawberries and Nutella—that is trdelnik for you. If the locals are to be believed, Krusta produces the finest variety of this delectable treat. Additionally, the multitude of breads, Danishes, muffins and croissants on display are to die for. A few metres from Prague’s most iconic sight, the divine aroma wafting out of Krusta will automatically guide you towards it. This bakery is like a Pied Piper of Hamelin, for the olfactory senses, in this case. I was lucky to be living in an apartment right across this dessert heaven and therefore perpetually smelled great. This place also serves good coffee and sandwiches all of which cost next to nothing. Snacking here is a wise idea and so is packing a little bit of everything for you to munch on while walking down Charles Bridge and basking in the glory of Praha, perhaps the most elegant city in the world. What to eat: Nutella trdelnik, ham and cheese croissant.
